It's that time of year!!

Well, it is indeed that time of year. Thanksgiving is upon us and Christmas is knocking on the door. Although in some places it has already arrived. Decorations have been put up so early this year, or so it seems. Some people already have lights on thier houses. Christmas trees are up all over town at the malls and plaza, and city streets are twinkling with lights. I thought you were supposed to wait until after Thanksgiving? I feel like I am already behind, so I have a few things to do today to make me feel not so behind...:) 1. Clean out the fridge to make room for Thanksgiving items. 2. Go Thanksgiving grocery shopping. 4. Drop a shirt off at the cleaners. 3. If time and children allow, get started on my Christmas cards. I am making them by hand again this year. I am a big fan of DIY, so hopefully they will turn out and I have enough supplies left. While I am doing that, hopefully this will keep the girls occupied...4.Have girls make some Christmas ornaments for thier tree.

Thankfully I did the major house cleaning on Saturday, so the bulk of cleaning is done! My laundry is all clean, folded and put away...YAY! Well except for a basket of whites, but that will take just a second to do. It always feels so good to have the house clean. It puts me in a bad mood when it isn't. Sad, but true. My mood is dictated on the cleanliness of my house. Sad and weird, sad and weird. Whatever!

Now I need to finish my coffee (pumpkin spice...yumm!) and get my busy day started.

Happy Monday (is that an oxy-moron?)

What I've been up to....

N785844588_590420_126

Naw, just kidding (this is me and HB four years ago)...not that anyone reads this blog anymore. Maybe they would if I updated more than once a month...Anyway, I have been around a couple of newborns lately. The baby bug has got me, but I think it will pass. Let's move this along, shall we?

I can't believe that Thanksgiving and then Christmas is just around the corner...already! Makes me feel like I am spinning out of control. Things are moving so fast, and I can do nothing to stop it...so I might as well jump in and roll with it, right?

Other things...

In just one more day, our country will have elected a new president. Interesting times we live in. Part of me can hardly fathom that we HAVE to vote on things like the definition of marriage, or the value of innocent life. Like there is really any question to those answers. Are we really turned that upside down? I guess we are reaping what we as a country have sewn. On the other hand, look far we have come as a country...a black man running for president and a woman running for VP. These are actually some exciting and history making times, and I am glad that I will be a part of this history making. You wanna know something? I didn't send in my absentee ballot. I am going to walk it into our polling place (you're allowed to do this...it's OK) because I would like an "I voted" sticker and then run to Starbucks for a free coffee and then come home and watch it all unfold. Only in America!

Have a great day and VOTE tomorrow!!!

God Bless this great nation, AMERICA!!

I am a Terrible Blogger...

I know I am. For awhile I have been going back and forth with blogging. I just haven't felt like doing it lately. Hopefully I will get back into the groove here soon. For now, I am going to see if I can find a fall looking template to spruce the look of it up a but. Maybe that will help...TTFN

Who is that little cutie?

Fire_expo_flyer

This came home in McKenzie's back pack today. I guess all the schools in the county got one. My little celebrity...:)

Do you see it too?

The first time I saw Sarah Palin, I told Robbie that she looks like just like Tina Fey. Then this morning as I read a few blog posts I came across 2 that had said the exact same thing. I just thought it was kind of funny...

What do you think?

First Week

Well, the first week of school has come and gone. McKenzie has done great! She loves school (I know those feelings won't last once she gets older). I am a little tired though. I have been in training of sorts myself. Waking up to an alarm (ack!). No more sitting and taking in the morning before the girls get up. Now it's more get up and get movin'. Although, it is nice to get back into a routine. We had a bit of a slow Summer. Meaning, we didn't do a whole lot. Which was fine. We pretty much just took it easy.

I don't have any pictures that relate to this post, but I won't leave you pictureless. Here are a couple of the girls from a trip to the park back in June.

Walking Home Today

Conversation with  McKenzie...

Background: I have been leaving a cutesy little note for McKenzie in her lunch box. She had no idea I was gonna do it until she opened up her nifty little Hannah Montanna Lunch box to eat. I thought it would just be a sweet gesture. You know, let her know I was thinking about her and that I loved her. We walk her to and from school because the school is just around the corner and up the street a bit...

This was the conversation between McKenzie and Robbie today on their walk home.

McKenzie: "Mom left me another love note in my lunch pail today, Dad."

Robbie: "Oh yeah, that was nice."

McKenzie: (sigh) " yeah."

Then we she gets home...

Me: "Hi Kenz! How was school?" ( I scoop her up on my lap)

McKenzie: "Good"

Me: "Yeah?"

McKenzie: "Uh uh."

Me: "So what'd you do today?"

McKenzie: "Ok, you can make me one (uses her finger to inforce the number 1) more note, but then no more."

Me:"What? (trying hard not LOL) Oh, you don't want me to write you anymore notes, huh?"

McKenzie: (giggling) "Uhh, no."

Me: "Ok, just one more then."

McKenzie: "Good." (gives me a  goofy smile and jumps off my lap)

I thought I was being a cool mom...I guess she didn't think so...LOL!

One Day Down...

and a  whole week to go. So, McKenzie did great yesterday. She was a little nervous at first (she told me so) but once she got there and took it all in, got a grip on how things go there (she is sooo much like her Father) she was good to go. She really likes her teacher, Mrs. P (thats what we'll call her). She started her teaching career at McK's school ( for 3years), then left to teach at a school in another part of town ( for 15 years) and now she is back to where she started. She seems really nice and McKenzie really likes her. Yesterday she got to be the line leader, something that McKenzie enjoyed doing at preschool as well. She talked about how they went on a Gingerbread hunt to find the Gingerbread man (the teacher's way of letting the kids get familiar with the school...a tour of sorts.) and they ended up finding him in the cafeteria. Which is someting new to McKenzie. She was amazed at how big the lunch room was. Too cute! All in all it was a really good experience for her. She even made a new friend! When I dropped her off this morning, there was zero hesitation. None. She gave her sister a hug, waved bye to her Mom (I only got a wave *sigh*) and off she went. Like she has been doing this for years. She's such a cool kid! I am anxious to hear how her second day went. Per her request, since Mom took her to school she wants Dad to pick her up. Seriously? I can't go?! It's already begun...she is becoming her own person. Which in all honesty, I do adore that about her, but at the same time it's killing me. Oh the joys of being a parent. My heart goes through so many twists and turns each day as my kids grow up.

Speaking of my kids...here's HB from this morning. Took a little trip to "bud da bup bup ba"  (that's McDonalds for all you non jingle people) this morning after we dropped someone off at school ...shhh...don't tell McKenzie, ok?

The little cutie patootie (i really don't like rosie o'donnell, but i like that saying)

First Day of School

My little girl is in Kindergarten...excuse me while I go and curl in a little ball and cry myself to sleep...

Ok, so I won't really do that, maybe. Although it's tough for me, I am super proud of her. I know she is going to shine, because that is just who is she is. A bright, beautiful little girl with a tender heart of gold.

Here are some shots of our morning...

Gettind her back pack packed. Check out the camp rock dude.

Ready to go...

Checking in...sigining her name. (she did the best job writing her name, and Iam not being biased either :)

Her teacher's husband came and helped out today. He was great in showing the kids what to do and where to go while McK's teacher asnwered parents questions. That's a bonus in my book. Having your husband come and help. I like that. I appreciate that.

Now I am off to figure out what HB and I will do for the next few hours...

Happy Monday!
